Troubleshoot — Fixing the VirtualBox UEFI Interactive Shell Problem

VirtualBox is an open-source virtualization software developed by Oracle Corporation. It allows users to run multiple operating systems on a single physical machine, creating virtual machines (VMs). But sometimes it has a problem that very annoying when we are working at virtual environment.

Okay, the problem that I got today is UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2 whenever I want to install Windows 11 in my VirtualBox. Currently it becomes common problem of VirtualBox, In this article I want to share about how to fixing it.

The Problem

Okay, let’s take a look to the problem that I have right now. When I start the WIN 11 OS , like this.

It will redirect the OS into this display, we are user, we don’t know what it is and how it works right?

Since it’s disturb my works, I would like to share about the way I resolve this problem.

The Solutions

Close the VM, we are gonna access the setting of the VM.

Open the Settings app.

Go to the System, in the Motherboard, by default, Windows 11 will have “Enable EFI (special OSes only)” activated.

Simply just deactivated that.

Let’s start it again…

Tadaaaaaa, it works.

Conclusions

In conclusion, encountering the UEFI Interactive Shell v2.2 problem in VirtualBox, particularly when installing Windows 11, can be an inconvenience for users. By deactivating the “Enable EFI (special OSes only)” option in the System settings under Motherboard, users can successfully overcome the problem and resume normal usage of VirtualBox.
