My First Payment from the Medium Partner Program ✨
When it happens, it will happens (!)
I’m the kind of person who takes things pretty seriously when pursuing something. But when it comes to turning things into money, I always feel like I don’t have that kind of talent — especially in writing.
I’ve always wanted to “write and get paid,” but at the same time, I didn’t want writing to become a burden. And on November 10, 2024, for the first time, I received payment for doing just that. Thank you, Medium.
How It All Started
The inspiration came in late December 2020. At the time, I was learning JavaScript and participated in JavaScriptMast, an annual event for beginner programmers.
The event was primarily about learning JavaScript, but there was also a raffle for writing a write-up after completing certain tasks. I joined on day 16, but of course, I didn’t win. Not surprising.
However, this is when I found out about Medium’s Partner Program, a feature that pays writers based on claps and followers (back then). Sadly, my country wasn’t eligible, so as usual, my hopes were dashed.
Still, I didn’t give up. I kept writing even without payment. My mindset was that followers take time, and a portfolio of articles would eventually…
