In this article, I will give you tips on improving your skills in duathlon or triathlon using Strava. If you don’t have a smartwatch that can track your multi-activity, this tutorial might be helpful. But if you already have one, just skip ahead.

The Problem

First of all, the title for this article was clickbait. Strava has already stated on their community hub that their apps don’t yet support multi-sport activities like duathlon or triathlon.

As you can see, Strava provides a solution using the activity split tool to split the activity. So, it’s more likely that we’ll train using Strava only. Well, if you have enough money, I recommend buying a Garmin. 🙂

The Requirements

The first thing you need to do for using the activity split tool is to complete the activity. In this case, I already completed a ride-run-ride activity. I didn’t do swimming since I prefer to save my phone from water damage. If you’ve already tracked it, save your activities. In this example, I will make it private, but later we will publish it.

The next thing you need to do to use the activity split tool is to have a laptop and a browser for accessing Strava Activity. I hope you already have these. Next, you need to open your Strava account from your browser.

If you’ve already fulfilled the requirements, let’s move on to the solutions.

The Solutions

The solutions for this case are a bit tricky since we have to make some changes to the activities. First, go to the activity you want to modify and click on the three-dot menu, then choose “Split.”

Next, adjust your activity, which could be the riding or running sessions. Caution: this action cannot be undone. You can zoom in on the map to get the exact locations of each transition. When you feel it’s finished, click on the “Split” button.

You will get an alert that your activities will be split.

It may take some time, so wait until it’s done.

Tadaaa! It’s already split into three.

You can edit the activity to make it public if you want to publish it for everyone.

Just click “Save,” and it will be saved and updated in your activity.

Congrats to me for doing my first duathlon! hehe
