Whatsapp is everyone’s app; although there are some big competitors like Telegram and Discord, this app is still used by most smartphone users for chatting.

It’s user-friendly, making it useful for everyone. We could share our moments, too, like Instagram, but only for our inner circle. Yeah, the one that we already exchange our phone numbers for.

If you usually update your WhatsApp, you will probably notice that there is a change in the “Status” section from this application; yeah, the interface for the updated status is horizontal.

What is bad news from this? It took a lot of work to read others’ updates; you needed to swipe it to the left, but it was hard to read the contact who sent it (for some people). Maybe we can adapt it after some time. But if we can make changes, why are we not changing them?

We can track back the updates so we can see the default layout (before the update) for the “Status” sections; in this article, I would like to share that.

The Problem

Here is the updated version of WhatsApp

Do you know why the layout became that? Well, it’s because the channel sections make this. WhatsApp gives us more flexibility in sharing public information for free. But who cares about this feature? For me, it wasn’t valuable at all since I wouldn’t say I liked finding news instead from Twitter (Now X)

The Solutions

Okay, the solution is for you to open the channel like this. One by one, no cheating.

Tap at the three dots in the right corner of the phones. Click the Unfollow button.

After you clear all of the channels you have already joined, the WhatsApp layout will turn back to normal.

Tada, it is back to the older version, which is better for me.

Conclusions

In this story, I talk about bringing back the older version of WhatsApp so we can easily read other stories without needing to swipe it in just very few steps. This article may not be necessary, of course, that means it’s not for you. I am writing this cause I need it, and I would like to share it; thanks for reading.
